JEMIMA - Printing Board

Medium: Foam Board + Printing Poster Paint
Date of Creation: 17 Nov 2007

I like Jemima's idea of creating "Mummies" comic strip. The lines from the "Mummies" visual has made the overall feel simply GREAT! Neat lines created, delivering clarity in the work she has done. Jemima is careful in her work so no 'dirty patches' created on any of her work when printing. Well done Jemima!

NICHOLAS - Printing Comic Board

Medium: Foam Board + Printing Poster Paint
Date of Creation: 17 Nov 2007

Nicholas attempted to create a comic strip template for printing. Very neat work done and he has really put in lots of effort to get it into the right format. Although he has made a mistake in reversing the direction of wording 'THE END', this somehow created some 'uniqueness' in his work in comic context. Important thing is that Nicholas has learned from his 'oversight' so next time he will remember that printing board will always take a reverse direction. This is also a way to teach the kids to see things in different perspectives. Good attempt Nicholas!

YOUNG ARTIST - LIM WEI XIONG

Name: Lim WeiXiong
Age: 4

At the age of 4, WeiXiong is still at doodling stage, learning how to draw basic objects. He loves drawing vehicles and he is pretty good at it.

JIN ANN - Underwater World

Medium: Oil Pastel + Poster Colour

JinAnn is still doing lots of doodling work. She is learning how to draw simple objects so lots of attention needs to be given to her, guiding her along the way. JinAnn loves colouring. She enjoys using poster/water colour in her work. Through this lesson, JinAnn gets to learn the use of mixed medium, water-resistant oil pastel with water based water colour. Pretty nice overall effects :)

JINYANG - Still Life "Fruits"

Medium: Oil Pastel

This is an unexpected outcome from JinYang. Fruits were placed in front of him and we actually wanted him to do a still life drawing using his observation. What we did not expect is that JinYang injected in his own creativity, created patterns instead of toning when colouring the items. Nice attempt. We love the results!

NICHOLAS - Still Life Drawing

Medium: Oil Pastel

In this lesson, the main objective is to let the kids learn how to observe lighting, shadows and shades. Using different tones of oil pastel, Nicholas has created a great masterpiece of his own. Pretty good in his observation, drawing the items placed in front of him with right proportion. Good Job Nicholas!

DARRYL - Still Life Drawing

Medium: Oil Pastel

It is definitely a huge challenge for a young kid like Darryl to do Still Life Drawing. 1st time exposure to them and they need to learn how to see shadows, shades, shapes of objects placed in front of them. Though challenging, Darryl took a daring attempt to finish it. Not perfect but definitely a great attempt. Good job Darryl!

CADY - Skyscraper in Frames

Medium: Colour Markers + Poster Colour + Oil Pastel

This artpiece strongly reflects Cady's colourful world! She has chosen bright primary colours for all her buildings, not forgetting to have cheerful looking clouds, clear blue sky as well as the smily bright sunshine as part of her drawing.

With the use of Oil Pastel and water colour painting for the 'mountain' background, Cady is now exposed to use of mixed medium. She gets to know that by using water-resistant oil pastel with water colour, it can creates an overall unique feel to her artpieces. Good attempt by Cady

BINATO - Army Vehicle

ELTON - Scratch Board "In the Rain"

ELTON - 7Up!

One challenge for this piece is to magnify the soft drink can onto a drawing block size. Elton has managed this well! His can is nicely drawn into proportion. The orange background gave a contrasting effect, making the can pretty much stands out. Good job Elton!

ELTON - New Perspective of Still Life Drawing

ELTON - Buzzing City

ELTON - Battle with the Dragon

ELTON - Ancient City

ELTON - National Day Parade

Medium: Colour Markers + Coloured Paper

ELTON - The Rebellious

Medium: Poster Colour

This is an assignment with 2 parts, one with WAVING HANDS and the other with FACIAL EXPRESSIONS. Love the way Elton has drawn the waving hands, with so much 'characters' seen in it, giving a 'rebellious' group feel. Just like seeing waving hands in a rock concert!

Great facial expressions drawn for the 2nd artpieces. It could have been better if Elton can draw stronger synergy between the two artpieces, possibly an extension of the 'rock concert' feel :)

ELTON - Eagle Painting

Medium: Poster Colour

YOUNG ARTIST - Elton Gowin Lim

Name: Elton
Age: 12

Elton definitely has a flair in art. A fast learner and willing to explore different techniques imparted to him. He knows what he wants and this can be seen through every strokes he leaves on his artpieces
